This week marked the culmination of our previous efforts and preparations within the EU co-funded project "Historical Eco-Aids in Inclusive Education," part of the Erasmus+ Small Partnerships. We warmly welcomed students and teachers from our partner schools as part of a mobility exchange. They are our guests for the entire week from December 12th to 16th, 2022.
Specifically, we are hosting students and teachers from Jedovnice in the Czech Republic and Sátoraljaújhely in Hungary. Our participants welcomed them with a dance. We thank the students and teachers of the Elementary Art School for their beautiful rendition of traditional Christmas songs, setting the festive atmosphere.
After accommodating our guests, we had an evening meal and a presentation about Slovakia, followed by a small quiz.
Their second day was spent creating traditional Christmas decorations and visiting the treetop walkway in Bachledova Valley.
In the following days, they will engage in the creation of traditional wooden snow huts, and we will keep you informed about all the activities on the school's website and social media channels.
Today, our guests from partner schools in the Erasmus+ program were welcomed at the Town Hall in Starý Smokovec by Mayor Jozef Štefaňák himself. Subsequently, we visited the resort at Hrebienok, where the Tatranský Dóm with ice sculptures and the Kvantárium with optical illusions caught our attention. The program continued in the afternoon with the main activity of the project, which is the creation of traditional wooden snow huts using ecological materials. After dinner, a lecture by a member of the voluntary corps of the Tatra Mountain Rescue Service is scheduled, featuring a practical demonstration of avalanche search with a dog.
On December 15th, 2022, a practical demonstration of the use of our products, traditional wooden snow huts made from ecological materials, took place directly in the field, specifically at Štrbské Pleso. The program continued in the afternoon with a tour of the city of Poprad and its associated district, Poprad-Spišská Sobota.
After dinner, our participants will receive official certificates of completion for the mobility exchange, followed by a farewell party for students from all three partner schools.
A beautiful week full of experiences, hard work, getting to know each other, and building new friendships has come to an end today.
On December 16th, 2022, we collectively visited the optical illusions at Tricklandia, followed by a shared lunch, gift-giving, and farewells.
We wish all our guests a safe journey home and wonderful Christmas holidays.
We look forward to another joint mobility, this time in May at the partner school in Moravia.

On Monday, May 22nd, 2023, we began our second mobility in the Erasmus+ program "Historical Eco-Aids in Inclusive Education," this time in Jedovnice in Moravia. We traveled together with friends from the Hungarian partner school. Accommodation near Lake Olšovec is nestled in the heart of Moravian nature. After dinner, we also had a cultural program at the local Elementary Art School.
On Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023, we were welcomed by students from Jedovnice Primary School with dance, song, and gifts. We learned a common dance and made clay carps as souvenirs. In the afternoon, we delved into the main activity, making wicker baskets, known as "vrsi," used for fishing.
The region we are in is known for its "fishpond farming," making this creative activity very characteristic. After dinner, we have a shared barbecue awaiting us. A beautiful start to the mobility.
On the third day of the Erasmus+ mobility in Jedovnice, we began with a trip to the "Punkevní Caves" on the Punkva River. This beautiful complex of underground chambers and passages concluded with a boat ride, 450 meters long, through narrow corridors and passageways. An experience of a lifetime.
During the cave tour, we also found ourselves at the bottom of the Macocha Abyss. The incredible, breathtaking view of this wonder could only be surpassed by the view from the top.
We ascended to the top of the abyss by cable car and enjoyed the panorama.
Upon returning to Jedovnice Primary School, we continued working on the project "Historical Eco-Aids in Inclusive Education." Making wicker baskets and T-shirts in full swing.
In the evening, a friendly bowling tournament awaits us.
On the morning of the fourth day of the Erasmus+ mobility, we spent time in Brno, at Vida Park.
It's a place full of scientific toys, experiments, inventions, and everything young scientists' hearts desire.
In the afternoon, we continued with another part of the main program within the project "Historical Eco-Aids in Inclusive Education," right at Lake Olšovec, near our campsite, where we tried out the handmade wicker baskets for fishing, and even went for a ride on the so-called dragon boats.
After dinner, a disco awaits us in the gymnasium of Jedovnice Primary School, combined with a farewell ceremony and the presentation of certificates to the participants.
On Thursday evening, the closing ceremony of the Erasmus+ mobility in the project "Historical Eco-Aids in Inclusive Education" took place, followed by the presentation of certificates to the participants, mutual gifts among all partner schools, and a disco for the children.
Today, we said goodbye to our friends at Jedovnice Primary School and headed to Brno. There, we visited Papilonium, filled with butterflies, before setting off on our journey home.
We are already looking forward to the next mobility, this time in Hungary in the fall.

We were greeted by beautiful sunny weather. After a brief tour of the school, we moved to the town hall, where we were welcomed by the mayor of the city. From the city center, we took a small train to an amusement park, where we tried rock climbing on the climbing wall. After an hour of sports, we returned to the square by train. Here, we had a quiz about the landmarks and historical monuments of the city. We ended the day with a workshop where children created coats of arms for the surrounding villages.
This morning, we spent time at the school. We visited all 8 classrooms, where each had refreshments and various interesting activities prepared for us. In the gym, we had relay races in mixed teams. In the afternoon, we visited the thermal baths in Sárospatak. The parents of the students prepared a fantastic dinner for us. After dinner, we had creative workshops and an unforgettable experience with Marika néni. We all created beautiful crafts from natural materials. We look forward to the next day.
Today was full of unforgettable experiences. First, we visited the Historical School Museum, the Great Library, and Rákóczi Castle in Sárospatak. In the afternoon, we spent time in protected workshops for physically disabled individuals. Here, we tried pottery, weaving, basket weaving, and bracelet knitting. In the evening, we were welcomed by the ladies from the folk ensemble Rozmarín in the village of Rudabanyácska. They prepared a wonderful feast for us. Then we tried archery and visited the local Greek Catholic church. Tired, we look forward to bedtime.
From the morning, we bent those hazel rods,
Twisted them a bit, and fences were the odds.
Then we quickly dashed to Karči's castle fair,
History we glimpsed, stories filled the air.
In the afternoon, Füzer's castle was our sight,
Perched atop a hill, hunger was our plight.
The closing disco was a hit, a top-notch show,
We earned many laughs, funny photos in a row.
On the last day of our stay in Hungary, we explored the products of local craftsmen and the Natural History Museum of Ferenc Kazinczy. Then came the hectic farewells and a happy journey back to the Tatras. Köszönöm szépen.
The project "Historical Eco-Aids in Inclusive Education," co-funded by the EU under the Erasmus+ program, is organized by our school, Tatranská Lomnica Primary School, in cooperation with Jedovnice Primary School and the Elementary School in Sátoraljújhély.
